steel toe caps can be really annoying

I started a new job yesterday and today i wore my steel toe capped shoes as soon as i put them on and started to walk, squeak squeak squeak every time i took a step. how embarrassed was i? people starring at me from all directions. why oh why couldn't i have some that doesn't do this. any body have any ideas on how to stop this happening i'm open to suggestions. dont want to make a fashion statement which i clearly didnt in these.
